The initiative “Bulgarian Library for Children, Vienna 2020” was launched on October 29, at 14:00, in the Festival Hall of the Municipality of the 2nd Leopoldstadt in Vienna.
Organizers are Mag. Petya Rice and Mag. Eva Tsvetichova, who sincerely want to encourage the learning of Bulgarian language by children of Bulgarian origin or with Bulgarian parents living in Vienna, as well as reading books in general. The library will offer books for children up to 14 years old.
The titles will include favorite Bulgarian classic writers such as Ran Bosilek, Angel Karaliychev, Yordan Radichkov, as well as contemporary Bulgarian children’s literature writers.
A physical and virtual library will be created in a few months. A special place for this purpose will be selected and equipped, where children will be able to read, view and borrow books. From the virtual library the children will be able to choose the titles and book the books that interest them. The idea for the libraryis also to be a place for new friendships, as well as for acquiring new skills through games and entertainment.
“The initiative” Bulgarian Library for Children, Vienna “is open to all who want to participate and preserve Bulgarian language” – is the main message of the organizers.
Mrs. Rice has many years of pedagogical experience with children in Austria, and Mrs. Tsvetichova has organized a number of educational campaigns for children and students in the field of ecology and healthy living in Bulgaria.
Due to the restrictions of COVID – 19, the event was attended by 3 children from the kindergarten “Marienkäfer Moni” in the 2nd district and their parents. The children had the opportunity to see some of the books with which the library begins and at the end of the meeting they received a gift book.
